Message to ModPo people, 9/3/23
Dear ModPo friends near & far:
Good morning!
Today we start officially to do what many of you have already done—to read and discuss the poems of week 1. HERE
Opens in a new tab they are.
And since discussing these poems is a central activity in the world of ModPo, please please consider joining the discussion of any one poem, or several, or all. Go HERE
Opens in a new tab to see the main week 1 discussion forum Opens in a new tab . Near the top of that forum you will see the bolded word “ALL.” Click that and you will see a menu of subforums, one for each of our poems. The ideal method for discussing poems in ModPo is to respond to a thread in one of the poem-specific subforums. Or to create a new thread and start a new discussion about that poem, also in the special subforum. HERE Opens in a new tab , for instance, is the subforum devoted entirely to discussions of Dickinson’s “I dwell in Possibility.”
And while you get started on the poems, please also continue to introduce yourself HERE
Opens in a new tab . The intros posted so far have been fabulous.
OFFICE HOURS! Tomorrow (Monday, September 4) we begin to offer office hours! Go HERE
Opens in a new tab to see the entire schedule of office hours. See below for a list, with links, of office hours at the beginning of the week.
Our live interactive webcast this week will happen on Wednesday, September 6, at 3 PM Philadelphia time. I’ll have more to say about our webcasts. For now, I’ll just give you the link to the entire calendar of 2023 webcasts
Opens in a new tab and also the link to the YouTube livestream Opens in a new tab for this first one.
A minor note: if you joined ModPo very recently, you will have received a welcome message from me and possibly also some automated notifications from Coursera. The latter might include some info about how you are (already!) late doing quizzes and whatnot, or how you might be falling behind in your weekly readings. You can ignore those kinds of automated notifications; because ModPo is an open, ongoing course, and we use the same site year after year, system due dates and whatnot are not relevant. If you have questions about our schedule, please ask us. For information about our statement of completion
Opens in a new tab , go to our FAQ page Opens in a new tab .
See you around the forums,
–Al
