Please mark your calendars!
Here’s the link to the YouTube live stream: LINK TO YOUTUBE
That is also the link for viewing the recording of the session after the live program is finished.
Sarah Meister (MoMA’s curator of photography) and several of her colleagues will join four or five of us from the ModPo team.
The current show at MoMA features the photographs of Dorothea Lange.
During our webcast will be focus our discussion on one of Lange’s photographs and one poem by a communist Depression-era poet. We will together do a close looking and a close reading of the poem and the photograph.
The Lange photograph we’ll discuss will be “White Angel Breadline” (1933) and the Rolfe poem will be “Season of Death” (1935). Links to these two artworks are HERE and HERE.
We will also discuss a second photograph and a second poem. The second photograph is one titled “Calipatria, California” (1937) and HERE it is. The second poem will be Gwendolyn Brooks’s “Boy Breaking Glass,” which can be found HERE.
As usual our webcast will be interactive. You’ll be able to call in, post questions via Twitter, YouTube comment stream, and in a special discussion forum thread. More info coming soon.
Viewers can call us by telephone at 610-616-3208 or by Skype — just search for our username, ModPoPenn, and select the audio call option to reach us. Skype is particularly useful for international viewers as an alternative to making a long-distance phone call.
A special discussion forum thread has been created for this discussion. Go HERE to post before, during, or after the webcast.
