Announcing: ModPo TAs & special poet-guests for ModPo 2024
Today I have the true great pleasure of announcing to you the group of ModPo TAs who will re-joining us for the upcoming annual “symposium mode” of ModPo (August 31 – November 11).
Some of these amazing people have been involved as co-leaders and co-conveners of ModPo since it’s very beginning back in 2012. Others have joined us here and there over the years, but all these folks will be familiar to everyone either
[] because you’ve seen them in the many video recordings of our discussions of poems; or
[] because you’ve joined their weekly “office hours” in previous autumns; or
[] because you’ve seen them in action during our weekly symposium-mode webcasts.
ModPo would not be the site of collective intelligence and collaborative interpretation without their generous skills.
So here are the people who will be returning as full-season TAs:
Ali Castleman
Sophia DuRose
erica kaufman
Kate Colby
Dave Poplar
Jason Zuzga
Laynie Browne (ModPo Coordinator)
& Max McKenna
In addition: Jake Marmer will join us for the webcast on September 11; Gabi Ojeda-Sagué will join us for the week 7 webcast on October 16. And our wonderful pal Amber Rose Johnson, now on the faculty at McGill University, will be hosting us during our visit to Montreal on September 25-29 and will join us for the live webcast from there on Thursday 9/26. And I’m still in the process of scheduling guest appearances by Anna Strong Safford & JS Wu & Davy Knittle & Emily Harnett!
And while I’m in my announcement mode: during three of our weekly webcasts we will be visited by eminent guest poets: Bob Holman during week 6’s October 9 webcast; Charles Bernstein during week 8’s October 23 webcast; and Rae Armantrout for week 10’s November 6 webcast! And during week 1 a terrific poet we met in Scotland, Iain Morrison, will be visiting us all that week and will join us for our September 4 webcast.
As usual, if you have any questions about ModPo, please contact us at modpo@writing.upenn.edu. We will respond quickly to everyone and anyone.
