Erica Baum’s “A Long Dress” gallery show responds to Stein’s “Tender Buttons”

Yesterday a ModPo film crew met up with Erica Baum at Bureau gallery in the lower east side of Manhattan — to make a new ModPoPLUS video with her about her newest project. Bureau is showing works going under the title “A Long Dress,” which of course refers to one of the poems in Stein’s Tender Buttons. These are poem-photographs of dress patterns, often catching a word or phrase found in the original pattern — photographed and reproduced at such close range that the words are super-prominent and the patterns of the dress patterns are foregrounded rather than recessed. The video will be available soon. Meantime, here are photos taken during the filming session.
