Message to ModPo people ModPo 2019 begins
Yes, ModPo 2019 begins on Saturday (September 7).
The discussion forums are open now, of course, but on Saturday we will really get going again. I will write again soon to give you some guidance—for those new to ModPo this year and for those needing a refresher on how the ModPo site works.
Meantime, consider these few thoughts:
-
If you have participated in ModPo previously and are not sure about ModPo 2019, please consider moving through the 10 weeks of the course by way of ModPoPLUS, our extra, supplemental syllabus. The ModPoPLUS syllabus exactly parallels the ten weeks of the main syllabus. To find ModPoPLUS, look to the left of any ModPo page and click on “Resources.” Or go HERE.
-
We have added many new poems and new videos to ModPo variously throughout the syllabi.
-
If you are new to ModPo: welcome! We will soon be posting a new thread so that everyone can introduce themselves. Please explore the site. Look to the left-side menu. Click “Overview” to see the 10 weeks of the main syllabus (poems, video, audio, etc.). Click “Discussion Forums” to join the conversation about individual poems—or any other topic! Click “Resources” to see so many other materials—the essay assignments; the schedule of live webcasts; TA office hours, etc. (Do not click “Grades,” “Notes, or “Messages” in the menu. These are not relevant to ModPo.)
-
We tweet at @ModPoPenn and our twitter hashtag is #modpolive . There’s a very lively Facebook group HERE. To find us on FB, click this LINK or search inside Facebook for “ModPo” and you should find us. Our Instagram is @mod_po .
-
Even if you are not sure how much you’ll be participating in the course, week by week, please look at our schedule of weekly live, interactive webcasts—the famous ModPo webcasts!—and plan to join us for some or many or all of these!
You can always—always!—reach us by writing to modpo@writing.upenn.edu.
Ready to find out once more why and how the difference is spreading,
