ModPo week 6 – here come the Beats
It’s week 6 of ModPo 2019! Time for the Beat poets!
The main week 6 syllabus features the writings of Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, Anne Waldman, Bob Kaufman, Amiri Baraka, Robert Creeley, and Jayne Cortez. Variously these poems are lively, antic, visionary, jazz-inspired, boundary-breaking, list-y and parallelistic, expansive.
HERE is a 34-minute audio introduction to the week.
This week our live webcast will take place on Wednesday at noon. We are excited that the great poet and teacher Douglas Kearney will be joining us at the Writers House for the day on Wednesday—and will be with us at the table during our webcast! We are all big Doug Kearney fans. And we know you will enjoy his presence too. Plan to tune in!
Below is a selection of poems and videos from ModPoPLUS for week 6.
