ModPo & Kelly Writers House come to Chicago — 4 events — you are invited!
I’m writing with details about our upcoming visit to Chicago. If you are in Chicago, or in the Chicago region, or planning to be visit Chicago during that time, or might like to plan a trip to Chicago to see us—we hope you will look over the information about four events we are hosting and will RSVP to one or several or all!

ModPo comes to Chicago — four gatherings/events — please RSVP!
1. Thursday, October 13, starting at 6:30 PM: ModPo LIVE WEBCAST. We will be presenting our weekly live interactive ModPo webcast from Chicago that night. We invite you to be there with us in person as we discuss that week’s poems. Location: room 405, Rosenwald Hall, University of Chicago. HERE is a map for finding Rosenwald. 2. Friday, October 14, starting at 6 PM: An evening SALON hosted by the Kelly Writers House in collaboration with ModPo. Join us at the home of our dear friends the Friend family (yes, that’s their name and they are true friends indeed) in the Lincoln Park area. There will be yummy refreshments, readings by several marvelous writers (including ModPo’s own Laynie Browne), and then I will lead everyone present in a collaborative close reading of a seemingly difficult (but nonetheless moving) poem. 3. Saturday, October 15, starting at 11 AM: POEMTALK at the Poetry Foundation. Join us for a live recording of the monthly podcast called “PoemTalk” at the Poetry Foundation, 61 West Superior Street. The event is FREE but RSVP is required. Please RSVP HERE. As producer and host of PoemTalk, I will be joined by Laynie Browne and Gabriel Ojeda-Sagué as they discuss poems from (Chicago poet) Lisa Fishman’s Mad Word, Mad Kings, Mad Composition (Wave Books, 2020) with Lisa Fishman herself.
4. Saturday, October 15, starting at 2 PM, at the Poetry Foundation: collaborative close reading of two poems from Gabi Ojeda-Sagué’s book Madness. Join us and be part of an open-ended group conversation in which we will explore these poems, co-led by me, Gabi, Laynie Browne, and Lisa Fishman. The event is FREE but RSVP is required. RSVP HERE.
