ModPo update for 9/26/2019: 1) webcast recording; 2) Boston meet-ups; 3) NYC meet-up
It’s Thursday of week 3 of ModPo and I’m here to remind you—excitedly—that there’s a great deal of discussoin happening in our forums around each poem in the week 3 syllabus. Go HERE and look to the right of your screen and see subforums for each poem. Williams’s “Between Walls” has so far seen fifteen new comments in three new threads, and about 300 “views.” And that of course is just one poem.
ModPo is of course about reading the poem, and of course about watching our video about each poem—but I think the extra engagement made possible by the forums (as well as twitter and via our live webcasts) is a special additional pleasure.
Three other announcements:
-
The recording of yesterday’s webcast is HERE on YouTube. (We are preparing a complete transcript of that remarkable conversation. We’ll of course send a link when it’s ready.)

A reminder that we will be in Boston in early October. On Thursday, October 10, at 7 PM, we will be hosting our weekly live webcast from the campus of MIT and will be joined by poet Nick Montfort among others. On Saturday, October 12, we will gather for a little reception and a meet-up during which we will collaborate on a close reading of two poems; this second event will take place at 6:30 PM at the home of Professor Lisa New, whom many of you know as the teacher/convener of Poetry in America. Each of these two events has limited seating. If you plan to join us, please RSVP by writing us at modpo@writing.upenn.edu.

On October 30th we will be hosting about weekly live webcast from New York City—specifically at the Morgan Library, starting at 7 PM. Those in or near New York—and those who might want to travel to NYC then—are welcome to join us. But seating is limited so please RSVP by writing us at modpo@writing.upenn.edu.
