ModPo travels to Montreal in early October 2018
Each October the ModPo team travels to a city beyond—sometimes well beyond—our home at the Kelly Writers House in Philadelphia.
This year we will be coming to Montreal.
We will be hosting TWO ModPo events:
1) a live interactive webcast on Thursday, October 4, starting at 6:30 PM, in the Multifunctional Room of Webster Library at Concordia University; and
2) a meet-up during which we will do collaborative close readings of two poems, starting at 6:30 PM on Saturday, October 6, in the Friends of the Library Room of Webster Library at Concordia University.
The webcast will of course be available to anyone in the world watching via the live video stream, but if you join us in Montreal you can be part of the in-person audience. Two special guests will be with us that night: the Alberta-born, Montreal-based poet and translator Erín Moure; and Karis Shearer, a professor of creative and critical studies at the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan campus.
As for the Saturday meet-up: we will make video recordings of the two close readings and will then add them to the ModPoPLUS syllabus.
If you are in or near Montreal, please plan to join us for one of both of these events. RSVP to modpo@writing.upenn.edu.
