live webcast, week 1 – September 11, 2019 at 3 PM
Tomorrow (Wednesday, September 11) is webcast day here at the Kelly Writers House in Philadelphia. You really should try to make plans to watch (and participate in) our first weekly ModPo webcast of 2019. We start at exactly 3 PM Philadelphia time. ModPo webcasts are always lots of fun, and also intense (at the same time). Many of the ModPo TAs will be joining us—in person or via video feed.
You can watch the live stream HERE.
But we don’t want you just to watch us—as fun as it might be to see the ModPo team in action, being very much our curious & intellectually improvisational selves. We want you to participate. ModPo is best when it is interactive—when we are asking each other questions, when we are trying out our ideas on each other.
Here are your options for participating:
1) CALL US. Yes, you can call us on the telephone! The number is 610-616-3208. Please do call us! If you are the second caller, you will “win” a poetry book, which we’ll mail to you after the webcast.
2) POST A COMMENT OR QUESTION TO THE SPECIAL 9/11/19 WEBCAST DISCUSSION THREAD. For each webcast we will create a special thread in the ModPo discussion forums. Click HERE to view the thread for this first webcast. Add your comments or questions. We will read them all. We will try to respond to some of them during the live session.
3) TWITTER. Many ModPo webcast fans like to interact with others using Twitter. Use the hashtag #ModPoLive. If you think of it, please include ModPo’s twitter handle: @modpopenn . At least one of the TAs will be watching twitter and we can best respond to you that way.
If you are in or near Philadelphia, please come to the Writers House at 3805 Locust Walk on Penn’s campus. You are welcome tomorrow to join us in person; you are always welcome to visit us there.
During the webcast we’ll mostly be talking about ModPo’s week 1 poems—Dickinson and Whitman. But we are game to discuss ModPo generally, and will be happy to look ahead at week 2.
We will of course make available a recording of the webcast, and will send out a link to it soon after the session. The webcast schedule for ModPo 2010 (and other info) can be found HERE.
